Home » The truth behind Botox
With perfect models strutting in magazines, appearing on television shows, and strutting down runways, it is no wonder that people are desperate to resemble the 5'10 youthful beauties. While most of us are no where near this type of perfection, we still feel the need to live up to such a standard. Luckily, Botox has been a miracle for people who just don't feel like they are beautiful the way they are. Although it does have its consequences, it is one of the most popular procedures currently in the UK.
Even though the majority of the public thinks Botox is a new creation, it actually began its journey in the late 60's. By 1989 it was making its way into people's lives, since it was approved for use. However, at that point in time, it was mainly being used to treat nerve disorders, primarily problems in the eye. It was not until the new millennium that Botox was actually being used to treat wrinkles and common lines around the eyes and mouth.
Sounds complicated? No, it's simple! While Botox sounds like a complicated procedure, it is actually pretty simple. The chemical is injected into the skin, and freezes up the muscle that is causing the excessive lines. For instance, if a woman had too many lines on her forehead, the doctor would inject the Botox directly into her forehead. The nerves would then weaken which would cause the frown lines to decrease. If someone were to continue Botox injections weekly or even a few times a month, the lines would disappear completely or be greatly altered. However, for some patients, this means that they would end up looking un-natural and too frozen.
Since each and every one of us uses expression from day to day, it is not a surprise that we have such lines on our faces. With years of these emotions, wrinkles and laugh marks tend to appear, and we are left with the damaging effects. For this reason, most people love Botox because it gives them a second chance. For some, it erases ten years and for others, it simply turns the clock back for just a few weeks. Regardless of the agenda, Botox can be a wonderful procedure.
Although Botox can be a phenomenon that gets rid of lines, it is anything but affordable. Generally, the average Botox treatment is around £250-£300. To many people's surprise, this price is only for one injection! It does not matter if you just need a line taken away from your mouth or a wrinkle on your forehead. All of these marks require a hefty cheque. Astonishingly, the area around the eyes is actually even pricier, ranging up to £450.
As long as we have these marks on our faces, we will be willing to spend such a large amount. After all, our faces are the first features that every stranger sees. They represent who we are, and for most people, they are a sign of beauty and youth. With wrinkles and spots inflicting our faces, we no longer have the confidence. Luckily, technology and medicine has given us Botox. While it is not a favorite among everyone and often looks un-natural if overdone, it is great that the opportunity is still available.
